With her company, The T Lady, Elissa Scott is pinpointing a crucial pain point that most women experience in their later years, and redirecting it into an opportunity for women to experience holistic and natural healing. This is how she turned a natural remedy for Menopause into a successful female- oriented business.
Menopause is a natural phase that all women must go through as they approach their later years. It is not uncommon that during this transition, women experience uncomfortable syndromes like hot flashes, mood swings, anxiety, and depression. These ailments have led women to either suffer alone or seek out alternatives such as prescription medication or Hormone Replacement Therapy. In an episode of The Michelle Obama Podcast, the former First Lady opened up about going through Menopause while being in the center of the world’s attention. She recalls a hot flash episode aboard Marine One, where she amply described the experience as “it was like somebody put a furnace in my core and turned it on high, and then everything started melting”. Regardless of who you are, enduring these symptoms of Menopause is undoubtedly difficult, especially with the limited selection of natural treatments available and for women who want to go through Menopause with a gentler and less erosive experience. Not until one Australian woman, known as The T Lady, brought an all-natural treatment to the market. Elissa Scott is the founder of The T Lady, which makes soft, pyramidal non-plastic tea bags consisting of five natural ingredients to alleviate the symptoms of Menopause. As a pioneer in this industry, Elissa is determined to popularize a natural alternative to prescription drugs for Menopause for women worldwide. Maintaining Wellness is Crucial to Menopause The one thing that differs dramatically from using conventional prescription drugs to treat ailments, as opposed to using natural alternatives, is that the first focuses primarily on targeting one organ. On the contrary, natural alternatives like Chinese medicine, for example, aim to balance and revitalize the entire body and immune system, so that it is more effective at combating disorders and ailments. Menopause Tea was created with a lot of thought into what caused the symptoms of Menopause, and what herbs function to combat those symptoms over a periodic span of time. All five ingredients in the teas have different functions to alleviate the symptoms of Menopause. Because it consists of completely, 100% natural certified organic herbs— it is less likely to induce any harsh or adverse side effects from alternative hormone treatments and prescription drugs. Achieving a strong, internal balance is important to stay healthy. Maintaining a healthy, nutrient-dense diet is one key to supporting this change of life. Opening a New Pathway for Women The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released a study on the use of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) as a viable treatment for Menopause. Reports showed that 6 million women in the US are on HRT. Shockingly, several clinical trials in 2002 revealed that the long-term use of HRT was correlated with higher risks in heart attacks, breast cancers, and strokes. Even the alternatives proposed on the sheet were limited to subtle lifestyle changes like exercising more or taking other drugs like anti-depressants. On the stark realities of western medicine, Elissa explains, “I think western medicine can and has a place to run alongside conventional medicines. So many people choose to take the easy way out, instead of lifting the band-aid to get to the root of an ailment”. Making natural alternatives available to women that are effective, can empower women to make better decisions for their bodies. The Way Forward One of the accompanying symptoms of Menopause is weight gain. Hormones, metabolic decrease with age, and lifestyle changes all contribute to this. Inspired by how her Menopause Relief tea was assisting women around the world, Elissa is currently trying to perfect a new tea that specializes in weight loss safely. The pathway forward is natural healing and carving a niche in the market, where women can look to achieve more optimal conditions for their whole bodies. Conclusion Women represent 49.58% of the world’s population. Menopause is something every woman has to experience in their lifetime, thus finding alternative solutions to prescription medication is essential. Women should be empowered to feel good and healthy in their own bodies, and making natural alternatives more available, as Elissa did with The T Lady; will give more women the option to pursue paths that are in line with healing, and taking care of their bodies, especially as they approach Menopause and beyond.

It got me when you said that holistic hormone replacement therapy has been found to be a viable treatment for menopause according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. I will suggest this to my mom who has been having with her body at the age of 50. She might not be aware that one cause might be menopause, so she needs to get checked first by a doctor to get their recommendations as well.
